This is the last Will and Testament of Mr Thomas Spendlove of Lamb House Shottle in the county of Derby Estate Clerk of Works made the twenty eighth day of July One thousand nine hundred and twenty six I appoint my wife's niece Edith Annie Davenport, Richard Hermon Hodgkinson of White House Farm Shottle and Samuel Ward Mason of Randle Park Farm Shottle (hereinafter called "My Trustees" which expression includes the Trustees or Trustee for the time being hereof) to be the Executors and Trustees of this my Will I Devise and Bequeath (after payment out of my personal estate of my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses) all my real and personal estate to such persons for such estates or interests and in such manner as my said wife shall from time to time by deed or writing under her hand appoint or otherwise dispose of or as to Chattels passing by delivery to whom my said wife shall deliver the same by way of gift or otherwise and in default of any such appointment disposition or delivery to my said wife during her life and after her death as to such parts of my real and personal estate as she shall not have disposed of as aforesaid (hereinafter called my residuary estate) I devise and bequeath the same into my trustees upon trust for sale and conversion with power to postpone the same and in partials to retain existing investments and to invest the money arising from such sale and conversion in any investments for time being authorised by law for the investment of trust money with power to vary investments and to hold the same upon trust to pay the said Edith Annie Davenport or permit her to receive during her life the income of my residuary estate as and when the same shall be receivable and after her death upon trust for and to divide my residuary estate equally between the children them living of the said Edith Annie Davenport and the issue then living of any child or children of hers who may have died such issue to take equally between them the share his her or their parent would have taken if such parent had survived the said Edith Annie Davenport and I declare that my trustee may after the death of the said Edith Annie Davenport or previously thereto with her consent in writing raise any part or parts not exceeding altogether in amount one half of the then expectant presumptive or vested share or interest of any child or grandchild of hers in the residuary estate as aforesaid and apply the same for his or her advancement or benefit I revoke all former wills by me made in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand the day and year aforesaid.
