WILL OF THOMAS SPENDLOVE OF SHOTTLE DERBYSHIRE
DATED 23 NOVEMBER 1794 PROBATE GRANTED DERBY 12TH APRIL 1796

In the name of God Amen,I Thomas Spendlove the elder of Shottle in the parish of Duffield in the County of Derby Yeoman being weak in Body but of sound Disposeing mind and Understanding (Praised be to God) Do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in form following
First I give and Devise to my loving Wife Jane Spendlove all my Copyhold Close and Appurtenances scituate in Ashleyhay in the Parish of Wirksworth and County aforesaid called the Yards dureing the term of her natural life and after her death I give and Devise the same to my three Daughters Mary ,Ellen and Lucy to be equally divided amongst them share and share alike their Heirs and assigns for ever.And also one clear yearly Annuity of three pounds to be paid out of my Personal Estate to my said Wife Provided her and my son Job Spendlove should not agree to live together.
Also I give and bequeath to my Daughter Sarah Willis thirty pounds
Also I give and bequeath to my Daughter Jane White Ten pounds
Also I give and bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth Jebson Ten pounds
Also I give and bequeath to my Daughter Ann Statham five pounds
Also I give to my son Thomas Spendlove one shilling
Also I give to my son George Spendlove one shilling
Also I give and Bequeathg to my two Grand Daughters Mary Jebson and Phebe Statham the sum of five pounds each all which said Legacies I hereby order and direct to be paid out of my personal property when they shall respectively arrive at the age of twenty one years or twelve months after my Decease
Also All the rest residue of my personal estate whatsoever not before disposed of consisting of my stock of Cattle Hay Corn Household furnature Debts oweing to me Tenant Right of my Farm at Shottle which I now hold of his Grace of Devonshire and all other my effects whatsoever I give and Bequeath to my son Job Spendlove his heirs and Assigns for ever he paying all my just Debts and funeral expenses and performing this my Will.And I do hereby constitute and appoint him sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made.In witness whereof I have to this my last Will the same being wrote on one sheet of paper set my hand and seal this twenty third day of November in the thirty fifth year of the Reign of our sovereign Lord King George the third and in the year of our Lord 1794.
Signed sealed published and declared by the Testator Thomas Spendlove as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have subscribed our Names as witnesses thereto in the said Testators presence and by his direction
