A COPY OF THE WILL OF ROBERT SPENDLOVE

PROVED AT LITCHFIELD 17TH OCTOBER 1752

In the name of God Amen I, Robt. Spendlove, of Shottle, in ye Parish of Duffield and County of Derby being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed be God for ye same. Do this 13th day of June in ye year of our Lord God 1751 make and appoint this my last will and testament in manner and form following.

Item: I give and devise to my daughter Sarah my bed whereon I now lie and ye Bedding thereto belonging ye sheets only excepted, also ye Chesty Trunk and Linnin yt her mother left her and a warming pann.

Item: I give to my Daughter Ann ye bedd in ye house chamber with ye Bedding thereto belonging ye sheets excepted and ye box and a Chest of Drawers and ye Linnin her mother left.

Item: I give unto my Son George my Chest and a box and ye Linnin his Mother left him, my will is yt. 8 of ye best pewter dishes 8 plates 2 candlesticks 2 porringers 2 smoothing irons be equally divided betwixt my Daughters Ann and Sarah,

My will is that my son Gervise shall have all my Goods Chattles and Personable estate paying to my 2 daughters Sarah and Ann ye sum of tenn pounds each and my son George eleven pounds, each to be paid when ye arrive at ye age of 21 years, my will is that my two daughters Sarah and Ann pay to my son George ye sum of twenty shillings each when they come to ye age of twenty one years and my will is yt. if my son Gervise shall entertain them here and carry to them as becomes a Brother, my will is yt. my son Gervise bring up and maintain with what is necessary my son George till he comes of ye age of Eighteen years and for ye true performance of this my last will and testament I put trust with my son Gervise my loving friend Thomas Yeomans who I appoint Executors of this my last will and testament.
