In the Name of God Amen I Job Spendlove of Shottle in the County of
Derby Yeoman being praised be God of sound and disposing mind memory and
understanding do make and publish and declare this my last Will and Testament
in manner and form following,that is to say, First I do will order and
direct that all my just debts shall be fully paid and disharged Also I
do give and devise that all my freehold and copyhold Messuages Farms Closes
Lands Tenements and Hereditments and parts and Shares of Freehold and Copyhold
Messuages Farms Closes Land and Tenements and Hereditments and all other
my real Estate victuals and lying within the Kingdom of Great Britain or
elsewhere unto my Nephew Thomas Spendlove his heirs and assigns forever
.And I do also as much _3 words_ and I lawfully may give the Tenant right
and possesion of all my farms and Lands which I hold under his Grace the
Most Noble William Duke of Devonshire to my said Nephew Thomas Spendlove
and I do humbly recommend him to the said Duke to be accepted as Tenant
thereof.And in case he shall be permitted to hold the same,I do direct
that my Wife Elizabeth shall have a habitation for her life in such two
rooms in the Dwellinghouse upon the said Farms or other them --1word--all
think fit or make a choice of.And I do give to my said Wife One Annuity
or yearly Sum of Ten pounds to be paid to her by my said Nephew Thomas
Spendlove for her life by four equal payments in each year clear of all
taxes and deductions upon the twenty fifth day of March,twenty fourth day
of June,twenty nineth day of September and twenty fifth day of December
in each year the first payment thereof to begin and be made upon such of
the said days as shall first and next happen after my decease.And I do
charge the said Annuity both upon my real and personal Estates and each
of them.I also give to my said Wife such one of my Beds with the Bed??????
and other furniture belonging thereto as she shall chuse.And I also give
to her such a reasonable quantity of other furniture for one Room as she
shall make choice of.Also I giveto my said Wife Eighty Pounds in money
over and above the annuity and other legacys I have hereinbefore given
to her.Also I give to my Sister Mary Hay One Hundred pounds , to my Sister
Lucy (Key)? the like sum of One Hundered pounds,Also I give to my Brother
Thomas Spendlove twenty pounds,Also I give to my friend John Bambriggs
of Biggin five pounds.And I give to my Nephew Anthony Street One shilling
All which said percunary legacy I will shall be paid within twelve months
next after my decease.And I do give my worthy friend Mr Richard Statham
of Shottle three pounds three shillings to be paid imediately upon my decease
and I do request him to be an (accountant)??? and give advice to my Executor
in the Execution of this my Will and lastly I do appoint my said Nephew
Thomas Spendlove sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby
revoking all former Wills by me made.In Witness whereof I have set my hand
and seal this sixth day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand seven
hundered and eighty one.
